The Diagrama Difference:
over 80% of youth successfully reintegrate into their communities

Diagrama is an international not-for-profit with nearly 30 years of experience successfully rehabilitating young people in the youth justice system. Their therapeutic model, used in over 35 re-education centers in Spain, has achieved excellent results - low recidivism rates, safe and stable centers, and operational costs comparable to or lower than other providers. Diagrama has been awarded Special Consultative Status by the UN in recognition of their expertise.

David Romero McGuire holds a PhD in Criminology from the University of Bedfordshire (United Kingdom), a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Cordoba (Spain), and is a licenced Social Educator.
While studying at university, David established an organisation dedicated to providing health and care services. Later, in 2002, he joined Fundación Diagrama (Spain), working as a social educator in a juvenile detention centre. During this time, he managed a vocational training and social integration programme which helped children and young people in the judicial system establish links and find resources to support their social reintegration.

Whats
next?

The model achieves better outcomes than punitive systems - over 80% of youth successfully reintegrated into their communities. Lower staff to youth ratios are offset by needing fewer staff overall, making it cost-effective.

Diagrama staff would train an initial cohort of Australian staff in their centers in Spain to experience the model first-hand. These staff would return to lead implementation, adaptation to local cultural needs, and further staff training in Australia.

Wherever you are, whoever you are, you, can help this happen.
